Folding Chair Makeover

When I host garden parties out on the deck, I always find myself in a mad scramble for chairs, especially if I have a large party. What I usually end up with is an odd assortment of chairs in various shapes and colors…

So, about a year ago I bought five metal folding chairs from a friend’s parents for two or three dollars each. They were a nice black color, but I wanted to do something with them since they were rather plain and well, cold.

I mixed together around four different shades of blue and green paint since I didn’t have enough of one color. Thankfully it turned to be a nice light aqua color, just what I wanted. I then used my trusty sprayer to apply it.

I felt they still needed a little spark so I stenciled words related to flowers on their backs…

I used a white spray paint from Wal-Mart for this.

I hadn’t forgotten the black underneath. That had to come through a bit. I used sandpaper to distress.

So now I have at least five of my chairs matching…

They will also provide good seating elsewhere.

So if you don’t like your plain, squeaky metal chairs, you can always give them a bit of flair with paint and some stencils!

Thanks for visiting!

  2. Hi Mary! Your idea of painting the folding metal chairs is a great idea. I love the stencil names. Distressing them make them look like they belong in the garden. This idea would be great for weddings too. I will tell my family about this. Thanks for sharing your great idea.

  4. Ares 4-Pack Folding Chairs from Bizarkdeal

I wanted a good set of chairs to use when we have company. We seem to have a lot of tables but no chairs to use when we have company. I wanted a set of chairs that would not take up too much room, stacked well together and were lite weight. I found these chairs on Amazon and did some comparisons to the leading chair on the market. They were very close in comparison except nearly half the cost. I am a fairly good size man, and when I sat in the chairs I did not feel that it was not going to hold me for my size. It formed to my posture keeping me upright and comfortable. The tubing is steel with rivets at all the points of motion. The seat and back are made of what looks like a strong plastic and are held in with numerous Philips screws, flush fit. This is nice if ever I want to remove them for cleaning or possible replacement. I believe these chairs will last me for years to come and were a perfect fit for my needs. Thanks.
